The St. Louis Rams last week signed former South Sumter High and San Diego Chargers safety Clinton Hart.
Hart, a starter for more than five years with San Diego, was cut by the franchise in October. With the Rams, he joins head coach Steve Spagnuolo, who was an assistant coach while Hart was with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2002 and 2003.
“I’ve been around him enough to know he’s a solid character guy,” Spagnuolo said in a St. Louis Post-Dispatch story.
At age 32, Hart fills the roster spot created when the Rams placed Oshiomogho Atogwe on the injured reserve list.
Hart was inactive in the Rams’ 47-7 loss to Tennessee last week.

Africa: It’s a continent an ocean away from the United States and probably a world away in several people’s minds, especially during the Christmas season.
Africa and its people are never far from the mind of Rosemary Jensen of Umatilla, especially after seeing firsthand how their lives have been affected by the deadly disease AIDS. Read Full Entry

It’s bumfuzzling, dad gum it.
It’s the only way to describe Bobby Bowden stepping down the way he is.
When you think of Florida State University – you think of Bobby Bowden. He put the school’s football team on the map around the nation. Fourteen straight times his Seminoles would finish in the top 5 in the nation.
He’s a legend – period.

Lake Magazine’s Michael Harris takes a video look at how Lake and Sumter people are doing in this downturned economy. But like most of America, when times get tougher, our community gets tougher. Here are some “man on the street” interviews we have found. We started in Sumter County along Highway 44 and will continue our project in the coming weeks and months.
