If you have not heard of the Gasparilla Inn & Club, you have missed one of Southwest Florida’s best kept secrets. It is located on Gasparilla Island, a seven mile long island with beautiful white beaches, a quaint old fashioned downtown and an 1890 lighthouse located in the Gasparilla Island State Park.  Until recent years, the inn’s owners have preferred to keep this historic inn a relatively quiet secret.

What A “Hot” Night

This Year’s Hottest Husbands Fashion Show Was One to Remember

Anything and everything happened at the 2010 Hottest Husbands contest, from the outrageous to the touching, concluding with the announcement of this year’s winner, Dr. Maen Hussein.

“Thank you to all the people who voted for me and now I have to go the Magic game [with my son],” said Dr. Hussein before exiting to the game in Orlando.

He didn’t leave before thanking his fellow “hot” husband contenders who strutted their stuff up and down the runway to enthusiastic wives, family members and co-workers.

“Thank you all and, ladies, your husbands are the hottest too so we are all winners,” he concludes.

Michelle Vivieros, Dr. Hussein’s wife, was excited and happy to see her husband crowned the winner but enjoyed more the overall experience of the competition.

Saving Our Oceans With Hair

It’s just hair you may say or think, but to Mount Dora’s Pure Aveda Salonspa your hair will be helping to stop one of the biggest oil spills in our nation’s history. Recently the salon shipped 70 pounds of their clients’ hair clippings to be used for creating absorbent booms that protect the beaches from the spill. The hair is stuffed in nylon stockings and can take in about one quart of oil in a minute, with the bonus of being wrung out and used again several more times. Read Full Entry
