Michael Dempsey
Love bloomed for Jennifer Dempsey and her husband Michael when they met one another at the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire in Tavares. Jennifer was a volunteer cast member while Michael was a principal cast member/faire co-founder named “Lord Edward deRavyn.”
Even though his character was a “bad boy” at the faire, Michael demonstrated to Jennifer that he was anything but “delightfully ill-behaved” as she playfully described his character while pursuing her.
“When I met Michael, I was a struggling single mom with four boys and since the moment we met, Michael has always made me feel like my children and I were the greatest gifts he could have ever received,” she says.
Their first date set the stage for where their relationship went next as Michael wanted to spend the night talking rather than dinner and a movie. He also said his mother had breast cancer and told her he would shave his head if his mother lost her hair from chemotherapy.
“Sure enough, the next time I saw him, he was bald,” Jennifer recalls. “I decided right then and there that I was going to marry this man.”
Jennifer sees her theatrical “bad boy” turned out to be a chivalrous knight in disguise.
