The next thing I learned is to have good accountability. I have had in the past well meaning people as accountability partners for losing weight but here’s the thing, if they are trying to lose too they will not be as hard on you. Then you have others that don’t want to offend you. When I entered this contest and got that phone call that they chose me I freaked out that night thinking what have I done. All of Lake county, my church family, family, friends and neighbors will all not only see what I weigh but also if I give up and fail.  I realized that it was OK. It had to be out there for people to know so I would be held accountable.  A day does not go by with out someone asking me about the contest. Even strangers come up to me about it. Now I know everyone cannot be held this accountable but be sure if you are serious to tell your family, coworkers etc so they will be asking. Maybe start a meeting at your church or work for everyone to meet and weigh in once a month and support each other. Give awards. Maybe have everyone contribute a dollar and the most percent loss gets the money. Have fun with it but most of all just do it.

Well this is the last month and I will try to give information that I have learned through my journey this month. I hope it helps you all too.

The first thing I started out with was self evaluation. I prayed a lot and asked Jesus to show me why I am overweight. We all usually have something there. OK so there is a few out there that just learned bad eating habits but be truthful most of us have a deeper reason especially if you have struggled to lose. Yes bad eating has contributed but why are you eating? Through prayer I was shown that mine was because sixteen years ago when my husband and I got together he used to tell me. “If you ever get fat I will leave you.” Of course he shouldn’t have done that but he didn’t realize that it would effect me like it had. In fact I didn’t mentally realize it either. Through prayer I finally seen the answer. I needed to know that I was loved for me. Not because of how I looked. I wanted to be loved no matter what. Of course thru these years when things were stressful I would eat and eat. When the Lord showed this to me I prayed that He would let me know for sure that I am loved. That I wouldn’t have to doubt. The next Sunday at church I had this sweet lady hug me and tell me “How are you? You have been on my mind all week and the Lord want’s you to know that you are loved.” Well the tears started falling. How cool that He would let me know from someone that didn’t even know what was going on. What a confirmation. So then I told my husband what I had been shown was my issue and of course he felt bad that he would ever had said such a thing and told me ”In fact I love you more now than I did back then.”  I was now released. I could lose all this weight that I had unknowingly put on to to know that I would be loved for just me. That is how my journey began. We all want to know that we are loved for us. I pray that you will figure out your reason too. It will set you free.

Well I’ve had a very hard month. I’ve been battling female problems and hemoglobin levels this whole competition and finally had to have surgery. I went almost three weeks without working out with Matt so I am very concerned about my weigh in Tuesday evening. I have continued to lose pounds and watch what I’m eating except for a few days after surgery. My husband and friends were so sweet with all their food but of course it was different than what I make for myself nowadays. I will continue to do my best and see what this next month holds. It did make me feel better though when my doctor told me that he seen the magazine and said “You have done that good with your hemoglobin levels?” I know he is the only one that could know the struggle. Not to mention today was Easter and all the candy, ham, mashed potatoes, cheesecake, squash casserole, pasta salad etc. surrounding me. I made myself a chicken breast with a blueberry glaze and had just a bite or two of the other things that I really wanted. It feels good to be more in control than I used to. I would have normally stuffed myself with it all but I really don’t need to now. Well now on to the treadmill to hopefully burn off the extra fat and calories of the day. Thanks for everyone praying for me and for everything Lori with TNT is teaching me. Matt you are a great trainer and I appreciate your support and of course Lake Magazine.

I’ve struggled some in my eating this week but thankfully with everything Lori is teaching me at Total Nutrition (TNT) it has been little things and not disasters. She has taught me how to fuel my body for the next three hours so I’m not so hungry.She has also helped me look at food more as fuel now that my body needs to keep it going through the day. Thank you Lori for all your help!!!
