Sutton helps USA Hoops

Kevin Sutton, basketball coach at Montverde Academy, and recently named an assistant coach for the 2009 USA Basketball Men’s U16 National Team coached and watched that team go 5-0 and win the 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship on June 21 in Mendoza, Argentina.

The U.S. scored a 101-87 victory over Argentina to win the title as Brad Beal scored 26 points in the final.

During the five games, the U.S. pretty much dominated the tournament by having a 33.6 average point differential through the five contests. Their largest margin of victory was a 52-point win against Puerto Rico on June 19.

The team has qualified for the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship in Hamburg, Germany to be held next July.
