Philanthropy in Lake
Leesburg – Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation, Inc. received a statewide philanthropic recognition from the Orlando Business Journal in November 2011 as one the largest private and public grant making foundations in Central Florida. The Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation, Inc. ranked number twelve out of all Central Florida nonprofits for total giving which includes grants, scholarships, employee matching gifts, and other amounts reported as grants and contributions paid during the year as per Form 990.
“It feels fantastic” to have the Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation, Inc. be recognized in this way, said Rosanne Brandeburg, Executive Director. “It has been part of our rich thirty one year history to continue to find ways that the organizations can fulfill our mission, so this recognition really shows the community what we have done, and what we will continue to do,” said Brandeburg.
The Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation, Inc. for 2009-2010 had a total year end giving of $5.6 million that helped to support the college and its mission by providing access to higher education for deserving students through scholarship, leadership opportunities, technological and facility enhancements and special initiatives. “This public acknowledgement of our service and commitment to our stakeholders provides a great opportunity to educate the community about what we have been able to accomplish historically, but also helps to motivate us in the future during these challenging economic times,” said Brandeburg.
All the same, the LSCC Foundation is extremely grateful for the tremendous level of support we receive from its alumni and friends, community partners, corporations, foundations and numerous organizations. Private support is very important to the mission of the college, and the generosity of these donors benefits every student, faculty and staff member, and user of LSCC’s services.
