Goal Surpassed

Leesburg – The Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation, Inc. exceeded its goal of $225,000 and raised $250,211 to help students in “Changing Lives and Building Futures” at Lake-Sumter Community College during its Annual Campaign.

The annual campaign went far beyond raising funds. As we move forward through these challenging economic times, more and more people will take advantage of “a great education close to home.” For many students, the scholarships they receive provide the difference between graduating and achieving their dream of a college education or dropping out.

The Annual Campaign ended on December 31st, 2011, and the results were presented at the LSCC Foundation’s Annual Board Meeting on January 11th.

“We are most appreciative of the tremendous support that we receive from our community. It is because of their generosity that Lake-Sumter Community College is able to make it possible for so many students to have the opportunity to achieve their dream of a college education,” said Executive Director Rosanne Brandeburg.

The money raised will assist the Foundation in continuing its mission tohelp provide excellence in education, service to the community and financial assistance to students. In 2011, the Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation, Inc. provided 770 students with scholarships. The record profits were due in-part to the 41 board members from our community that worked hard to help us exceed our goal and team chairs Gail Baker, Sheriff Bill Farmer, Debbie Moffitt, and Dan Tatro.

In the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt, “we cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.”  The LSCC Foundation appreciates the generosity of the following individuals and organizations: Beta Theta ESA # 4803, BMC Holdings, Inc., Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Dan & Debbie Boggus, Albert Leroy Brown Foundation, Jon Cherry, Coca-Cola, Charles & Sandra Cochrane, Ellie Esch Estate, Ernie Morris Enterprises, Helios Foundation, Hans & Cay Jacobsen Foundation, Lake Mechanical Contractors,  Ellanora McGinty Memorial, M & J Groves, the Panuska Family, Progress Energy, H.O.
