Judd Spence: A Closer Look

posted by eric on 24th, 2010

In one month’s time, Judd Spence says when “I flex my muscles I feel like Superman; I don’t look like that.”

The change is happening for the 39-year-old scuba instructor. After a steady diet of what he calls Whoppers, wings and pizza, the change is noticeable.

“You know, I can see muscle tone whereas before I couldn’t,” he says. img_7674

Now Judd is eating only 1,400 calories a day and, in that, he’s eating lean beef and chicken. When he and his family go out to eat, he says he factors in all of the nutritional guides.

Sticking with a calorie count is so much different than his past life.

“I would eat Whoppers four times a week and I wouldn’t count my calories at all,” he says. “I just didn’t care.”

He admits his extra weight affected him in more than the obvious when it came to scuba instruction and the extra energy he needed under water.

“For starters, you have to buy a bigger wetsuit and the more neoprene you use, the more they charge you,” he laughs. “Carrying my gear from the car to the boat would get me out of breath.”

But now after one month, his weight loss is becoming infectious. His wife, Sara, is getting in the game as well. Sara has recently become a member at Infinity Fitness.

“She helps me and I help her,” Judd says.

And what has Sara noticed the most about Judd’s new shape?

“She has mentioned a little bit about my snoring in that it hasn’t completely gone away, but it’s not as bad,” he laughs.
